Beacon Healthcare Associates was founded in 2003 by Internist David A. Clements, who has practiced in Asheville since 1999.  He is joined by Physician Assistant Sarah C. Davis, who has practiced the area since 1985, and Martha Hoffmann, who has practiced in the area since 1997. 

We offer general medical care, and serve as "family doctors" for our clients, referring them to specialists when necessary.  We are trained to treat the most common problems. We screen for illnesses such as cancers, diabetes, and heart disease, and offer advice on healthy living.

We try to offer our clients a friendly, intimate healthcare experience.  We value connection as an important part of health and healing.  We see our role(s) as that of  guide and companion, helping our clients to understand their choices and to support them in drawing from the many resources available to them locally and beyond to find the approach to healthcare and healing that best suits them.  We are well-trained in conventional medical therapies, but are friendly to holistic approaches to wellness, including nutritional and physical therapies.

Dr. Clements is on the staff of Mission Hospitals, however he does not provide inpatient care for his patients.  He has asked the hospital specialists, who are organized in a firm known as Asheville Hospitalist Group, to oversee the hospital care of his patients.

We welcome new patients.  Currently we accept most health insurance plans, including Aetna, Blue Cross, Cigna, Crescent, First Health, Humana, MedCost, Medicare (including Railroad Medicare), Tricare, and United HealthCare.  While we do participate with NC Medicaid/Carolina Access II Care, we are not currently accepting new Medicaid patients.  As a Medicare provider, we participate with all Medicare Advantage plans.  See our New Patient Info page for more information about how to establish with us as a new patient.
